Lexington, Ky. (AP) – Kentucky football coach Rich Brooks has agreed to a contract extension.

Brooks and athletic director Mitch Barnhart came to terms Friday afternoon, Wildcats football spokesman Tony Neely said during halftime of Kentucky’s basketball game against Massachusetts. Terms of the deal won’t be released until January.

The Wildcats (7-5) will face Clemson in the Dec. 29 Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl, their first postseason appearance since 1999. In Brooks’ previous three years at Kentucky, the team never had a winning season, compiling a 9-25 record.

Brooks, a former NFL coach, is best known for coaching Oregon from 1977-94 — including the Ducks’ first back-to-back winning seasons in 16 years and first bowl berth in 26 years. He was not available Friday night for comment.
