LEXINGTON, Ky.?The University of Kentucky men?s tennis team will begin its fall slate with a three-day individual flighted tournament event at Purdue?s Schwartz Tennis Center Jan. 13-15. Teams included in the event are New Mexico, Purdue and Western Michigan.
Kentucky which opens the season ranked No. 33 by the ITA will mark the debut of freshman Roman Ogarkov who enrolled at Kentucky on Wednesday.
Veterans senior Peter Bjork, juniors Marcus Sundh and Will Ward, and sophomore Bruno Agostinelli will aim to continue Kentucky?s dominance and begin a season in which the team hopes to return to the NCAA Tournament for the 12th consecutive season.
The Schwartz Tennis Center will be hosting its first ever varsity tennis event. The center opened in late December and is a 64,000-square foot facility. The event will use a complete flighted round-robin format that includes 1-6 singles and 1-3 doubles. Exhibition matches will be played after each scheduled session to accommodate all players on each team.
