LEXINGTON ? Coming off its first loss of the season, the 21st-ranked Kentucky women?s tennis team returns to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. when it faces rival Louisville at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on the Cardinals? campus.
The Wildcats had their best start in 20 years snapped on Sunday in a tough loss to Indiana, but remain 6-1 on the season. Louisville, ranked 72nd, is 4-6 on the year after dropping its last two to Minnesota and Denver. Prior to the skid, U of L knocked off Notre Dame for a big victory.
Kentucky is led by seniors Kim Coventry and Joelle Schwenk, who is ranked 60th in the nation. Coventry scored her biggest win of the year on Sunday, beating the 86th-ranked player in the nation. The duo also forms UK?s top doubles tandem and is ranked third nationally.
The Wildcats have also gotten big contributions from freshman Sarah Woestmann, who is still perfect in her collegiate career at 7-0.
The series has been one sided as Kentucky has won all 13 previous meetings, including last year in Lexington. The last time the two met in Louisville, UK scored a 7-0 win.
