DESTIN, Fla.–The University of Kentucky women?s golf team is currently in a tie for eighth place after the first round of the Chrysler Challenge hosted by Florida State University on Saturday.

Junior Beth Felts leads the Wildcat scorers after carding an eight-over-par 79 in the opening day. Felts is in a two-way tie for 13th place.

UK as a team turned in a 332 (+48) performance in the opening round action. They are tied with Miami for eighth place. The host team currently stands atop the leaderboard after posting an astounding 303 (+19), to lead the field by 11 shots. Kentucky trails Mississippi State, which holds seventh place, by just two shots.

Senior Marissa Muir is second among the Wildcats as she holds a tie for 34th place with an opening round 83. Classmate Katie Johnson is not far behind, after firing an 84. Junior Elizabeth Dotson and freshman Erica Still round out the scoring for the Wildcats, with an 86 and 88 respectively.

Round two of the Chrysler Challenge continues on Sunday, with the final round to be played on Monday. Complete results of the action can be found at www.ukathletics.com.
