BATON ROUGE, La.?Junior Will Ward was the lone victor in the men?s tennis 6-1 loss to No. 15 LSU on Friday night. Kentucky (7-6, 1-2) could not overcome a potent doubles and singles lineup en route to their second loss in a tough SEC conference.

Ward picked up a huge win as he defeated the No. 37 ranked player Danny Bryan in the country in an entertaining three-set thriller. Bryan took the first set 7-5, before Ward answered with a dominating 6-2 win in the second set. It took extra points to decide a victor but, the Wildcat prevailed with a third-set 7-6 (5) win.

The junior paired with senior Peter Bjork for an impressive win at No. 2 doubles when the undefeated duo dismantled the No. 5 duo in the country 8-6. Bjork and Ward handed James Cluskey and Ken Skupski a very rare loss, but the Wildcats were unable to convert a win in either the other two doubles positions.

Sophomore Bruno Agostinelli nearly overcame No. 21 Ken Skupski in three sets, and the opponents also stretched a three-set thriller to extra points. Skupski prevailed 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (5).

Bjork?s eight-match singles win streak came to a disappointing end when he fell to Colt Gaston in straight-sets 6-1, 7-5.

Kentucky returns to action on Sunday when they travel to meet Arkansas. The match is slated for 1 p.m. CST. Results can be found at www.ukathletics.com.
