MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.?Junior Will Vietti placed in his first ever NCAA Championships on Friday when he took 16th overall in the 100-breaststroke at the Championships hosted by the University of Minnesota.

Vietti earned the first point of the Championships for the Wildcats when he took 16th in a time of 54.47 in this evening?s finals. He took the 14th seed in the morning prelims with a time of 53.79, just a few hundredths of a second off of his career-best time of 53.73.

Sophomore Mickey Malul, placed 19th in the morning with a time of 54.09 just missing the qualifying time of 53.92 to advance to the evening finals in the same event.

Vietti will partake in the 200-breaststroke preliminary heat on Saturday morning. The first event begins at 11 a.m. CDT.
