The University of Kentucky volleyball team will host several camps this summer in Lexington. With the Team Camp already filled, you still have the chance to partake in one of the individual clinics being offered by the Wildcats. Although the team camp is filled, you may still contact the volleyball office to get your team on the waiting list should spots open up at a later date.

Two All Skills Camps will be held for those entering grades 8-12. The first is July 5-7, while the second is set for July 9-11. This camp focuses on developing skills in all aspects of the game. Campers will be divided by skill and placed in groups where they will improve and be challenged. Serving, passing, attacking, defense, blocking, setting, team transition and team competition will be taught throughout the camp. Campers will be given all the resources they need to take their game to the next level.

The Cats will also host a Kids Camp for those entering grades 4 through 7 on July 9-11. This camp is designed to teach the basic fundamentals of volleyball. The Kids Camp will be three days of training and fun focused on serving, passing, setting, attacking and digging for beginners.

UK will offer a Setter/Middle/Libero Camp on July 21. This camp is designed solely on fundamental skill development as a setter, libero, defensive specialist or middle. Current and former elite athletes and coaches will be guiding you through one full day of intense training at your specialized position. This camp is for those in grades 8-12 and will run from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm.

The Team Camp will take place July 12-14 and is a balance between competition and team training. It will give you each team and coach a great opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season with fundamental skill training and ample amounts of team situations and scrimmages each day. Team Camp is open to high school varsity and junior varsity teams and must be accompanied by a coach.

?We are really excited about our 2007 camps,? said UK head coach Craig Skinner. ?Over the past two years we have doubled our number of athletes that have participated. Our team camp is already full and individual camp spots will go quickly. It?s an exciting time for the growth of volleyball in this state and it?s one of our goals to help facilitate that growth.?
