LEXINGTON ? The 22nd-ranked Kentucky women?s tennis team aims to run its win streak to nine on Sunday at Noon when it hosts Ole Miss on the back end of a weekend set against the Southeastern Conference?s Mississippi wing.
The Wildcats took down Mississippi State on Friday, 6-1, to improve to 14-1 overall and 5-0 in the SEC. The overall start is the best in the program?s history and the 5-0 start matches the 2005 SEC Champions for the best in league play.
Kentucky dominated the Bulldogs Friday, easily taking the doubles point before winning four singles matches in straight sets and adding a third-set rally for the final point.
Senior Joelle Schwenk looks to continue her personal eight-match win streak in the contest. She hasn?t dropped a set during the run at No. 2 singles and has won 17 of her last 18 overall.
Kentucky also has a 12-match home win streak that dates back to last season and includes a 9-0 home mark this year.
Ole Miss enters the contest off a loss to Vanderbilt on Friday. The Rebels are 4-11 on the season and 0-4 in conference matches.
