LEXINGTON ? The 28th-ranked Kentucky women?s tennis team closes out the regular season on Saturday afternoon when it welcomes No. 17 Vanderbilt to the Boone Tennis Center for a Noon contest.
The Wildcats plan to honor its three seniors prior to the match as Kim Coventry, Joelle Schwenk and Caroline Winebrenner will be playing for the final time at home. The trio has posted an 81-33 overall record, reached three NCAA round of 16s and won the 2005 Southeastern Conference Championship.
Kentucky is coming off a pair of victories over Eastern Kentucky and Cincinnati on Wednesday, which ran the team?s record to 17-5. The Wildcats are three wins shy of their third 20-win season in a five-year span.
?We?ve prepared very well this week,? Kentucky head coach Carlos Drada said. ?We hope to have a great match on Saturday.?
The Commodores are tied for third in the conference with an 8-2 mark en route to their 15-7 overall mark. They have lost two of their last three, but had won 12 straight before that.
Last year, the two teams split a pair of meetings with Vandy winning in the regular season before UK came back to knock them off the SEC Tournament a week later.
