SACRAMENTO, Calif. ? Sophomore Kentucky distance runner Taylor Miller (Owensboro, Ky.) has been named a 2007 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District second team selection for her success on the track and in the classroom, it was announced Thursday.
Miller had a breakout campaign in 2007, making her way onto UK?s all-time top 10 list in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters. Her time of 35:51.78 in the 10,000-meter run ranks fifth all-time in school history. She qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional in the 5,000-meter run with the eighth-fastest time in UK annals in that event (16:50.30).
During cross country season, Miller competed in each of the Cats? six meets and led Kentucky in four of those meets, including three consecutive to end the season. She was UK?s No. 1 runner at the SEC Championships and the NCAA Southeast Regional.
Miller currently holds a 3.86 GPA in secondary English education. She is the daughter of Jeff and Mary Miller of Owensboro.
Kentucky is a member of District 4, which covers the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
