LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky distance runners Andrea Halasek (Georgetown, Ky.) and John Richardson (Ocean City, N.J.) have been named to the Southeastern Conference Good Works Team for the 2007 season for their efforts in the community, the league office in Birmingham, Ala., announced.
Richardson is a 2007 inductee into the Frank G. Ham Society of Character, which recognizes those student-athletes that have gone above and beyond to fulfill the five commitments of the CHAMPS/Life Skills program which consists of academic excellence, athletic excellence, career development, personal development and community service. He won the athletics department’s CATSPY awards for Male Performance of the Year for the 2006 season. He also has served as a weekly mentor at Johnson Elementary, has read to children at Cassidy Elementary School, has volunteered at the Wildcat Classic Track Meet and also volunteered at the UK High School Invitational.

The Southeastern Conference sponsors a Good Works Team in each of its 20 league-sponsored sports, and the one for men?s and women?s track and field covers the cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field seasons.
