LEXINGTON, Ky. ? University of Kentucky women?s golf coach Myra Blackwelder announced the transfer of Kristin Vincent from N.C. State to Kentucky, Tuesday. Vincent has been released from N.C. State and is eligible to compete for the Wildcats immediately.
?Kristin and Mallory (Blackwelder) have had a long-standing relationship with each other playing in events throughout their youth,? said Blackwelder. ?That relationship combined with our need for experience brought Kristen to Kentucky. I?m thrilled to have her join our team and bring added depth to our squad.?
Vincent competed for the Wolfpack as a freshman and appeared in two fall tournaments a season ago. Her best finish was a tie for 38th in the Land Fall Tradition. At the Cougar Classic, her first collegiate tournament, Vincent tied for 60th.
The Burlington, N.C. native graduated from Walter Williams High School where she lettered in golf all four years for Coach Mark Clapp. Her high school success included a three-year run of the North Carolina High School Mid East Regional runner-up. In 2005 she placed third in the North Carolina High School State Championship. As a sophomore, she set the North Carolina Women?s High School nine-hole scoring record with a clip of 31.
In other action, she was a semifinalist in the 2003 NC Junior Girls Championship and runner-up in the 2006 event. Additionally, she was also runner up in the 2006 Carolinas Junior Girls Championship.
On the amateur links she had three top-10 PGA Junior Series finishes including a fourth place finish in the 2005 Duke University event, and four top-10 AJGA finishes including a fourth place finish in the 2006 Richmond Junior event.
Vincent joins Kentucky with three years of eligibility remaining. She is joined by seniors Elizabeth Dotson and Beth Felts, junior Mallory Blackwelder and sophomore Erica Still to the UK veteran lineup.
