Wildcats, Lady Volunteers Square Off Sunday for Senior Day
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program will play host to Tennessee on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. ET inside historic Memorial Coliseum. The game, which is the Cats’ last regular-season game of 2022-23, will be broadcast on SEC Network, with Sam Gore and Tamika Catchings on the call.
Kentucky, who has a 10-17 overall record and a 2-13 Southeastern Conference record this season, is coming off a loss at Texas A&M last Thursday, 74-67. Despite the loss, the Wildcats knocked down nine shots from long range. The Cats also forced the Aggies into 18 turnovers, while committing just 12 themselves, and they led the Aggies in both points off turnovers and bench points.
Robyn Benton, a graduate guard from Conyers, Georgia, is fifth in the league in points per game (16.6) and sixth in the league in points per game in conference action (17.2). She is also leading the league in free-throw percentage with 93 makes on 112 attempts at the line (83.0%). The Wildcat is coming off 21 points at Texas A&M, while she is averaging 19.3 points per game in nine true road games this season.
Junior Maddie Scherr (13.9), who was returned to the court at Texas A&M last Thursday after a two-and-a-half game hiatus, and sophomore Jada Walker (12.2) are also averaging double-digit scoring in conference action.
Despite Kentucky’s record, the team is pacing the conference in several statistical categories. Walker is tight behind Benton in free-throw percentage, ranking second in the league with 73 makes on 88 attempts at the line. Walker is also second in the SEC in steals (64) and in steals per game (2.4). Even though she has missed the last two-and-a-half games, Scherr remains one of only two players in the league that has at least 105 assists (109) and 50 steals (54). Meanwhile, she is in the top five in the league in assists per game (3rd, 4.4), steals (4th, 54), assists (5th, 109) and steals per game (5th, 2.1).
As a team, the Wildcats are ranked second in the conference and 18th nationally in turnovers forced per game (20.4), while they’re also ranked second in the league in steals per game (9.9).

Adebola Adeyeye is a 6-2 forward from Brampton, Ontario. Adeyeye spent four years at Buffalo, before transferring to Kentucky last summer. She has played in 143 games and made 91 starts in nearly five years as a student-athlete. For her career, she is averaging 4.7 points and 5 rebounds per game, combining for 673 points, 708 rebounds and 69 blocks. For the Wildcats, Adeyeye has played in all 27 games this season, making eight starts. She is contributing 4.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. She produced her seventh career double-double last week against Georgia, recording 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Adeyeye has a degree in social science interdisciplinary with a concentration in early childhood development from Buffalo, and she is currently working on a health coaching graduate certificate.
Robyn Benton is a 5-9 guard from Conyers, Georgia. Benton spent two years at Auburn, before transferring to Kentucky in the summer of 2020. In her nearly five years as a student-athlete, she has recorded 1,198 points and 290 rebounds. She eclipsed 1,000 career points with 19 points at Georgia on Feb. 5 this season. She also scored a career-high 29 points this season, including 17 points in the fourth quarter, in Kentucky’s win at Florida on Jan. 15. Benton has scored in double digits in 24 of her 25 games that she has played in this season, and has led Kentucky in scoring in 13 games. She is fifth in the SEC with 16.6 points per game, while she is ranked first in the league in free-throw percentage and seventh in the league in steals per game. Benton was an instrumental part of the Wildcats’ historic run to the 2022 SEC Tournament title, including hitting a game-changing 3-pointer in SEC Championship win against No. 1 South Carolina.
Benton has a degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in communications. She is currently working on a master’s in business administration.
Green is a 6-2 guard from Harlan County, Kentucky. Green is in her fifth year competing for the Wildcats, averaging 6.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game for her career. The Bluegrass native leads the team in games played at Kentucky with 117 games, while making 52 starts. Green recorded a career-high 22 points in Kentucky’s win over Vanderbilt in 2021, and she had a career-high eight rebounds at No. 1 South Carolina. Green is averaging a career-high 8.1 points and a career-high 2.5 rebounds per game this season, while she has knocked down a career-high 27 3-pointers. She was named to the 2019 SEC All-Freshman Team, is a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member and was recently named to the 2023 SEC Community Service Team.
Green has two degrees in kinesiology and human communications. She is currently working on a high performance training certificate.
