Fresh off a second place finish at the Boilermaker Challenge Cup, the Kentucky women?s soccer team (1-0-1) returns home with a 1-0-1 record to play its 2007 home-opener against the Evansville Purple Aces (2-0-0).

The game begins a stretch of three games in five days at the UKSoccer Complex. The last time the Wildcats played such a compact schedule was during the 2006 SECTournament when the team ran the table against Ole Miss, No. 20 Tennessee and No. 12 Florida in five days to win the SECTournament championship. The Wildcats also pulled off the trick during the regular season last year going 1-1-1 on the road against Miami (OH), Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Wisconsin.

The Wildcats own a 4-3-1 record against the Purple Aces andis unbeaten in its last three games against Evansville, winning in 1998 and 2000 while playing the Acesto a 1-1 draw in 1999. The two teams have not met since the 2000 season.

Kentucky has opened the season with two consecutive shutouts, the first time in program history a Wildcat team has started off with back-to-back cleansheets.

Freshman Laura Novikoff leads the team offensively, scoring the Wildcats? lone goal of the season, but she?s also the team leader in shots with seven. Freshman Laura Baker is tied for the top spot in the SEC with a 0.00 goals-against-average as well as shutouts with two.
