LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky junior midfielder Chad Hagerty has been named to the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-District first team in district four, the organization announced on Thursday.
Hagerty, a native of Louisville, Ky., and former St. Louis letterwinner, has played in 13 games for UK this season, starting nine. Hagerty has played 624 minutes, collecting one goal and one assist. Hagerty?s lone goal came as the game winner in UK?s 2-1 win at state rival Western Kentucky.
An exercise science major, Hagerty has accumulated a 4.0 GPA during his time at Kentucky. Hagerty, who attended soccer high school powerhouse St. Xavier, is the seventh UK player to earn CoSIDA All-District honors since 2000-01. As a first-team selection, Hagerty is now eligible for a spot of the CoSIDA Academic All-America team. Three former soccer Wildcats have earned the All-America honor, including Jamal Shteiwi, who earned UK?s last Academic All-District selection in 2004-05. Chris McAlpine was UK?s last Academic All-America selection, notching the honor during the 2001-02 seasons.
The Kentucky men?s soccer program has etched a reputation as being committed to the academic success of its players, having earned the prestigious National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award four times.
