BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Kentucky junior midfielder Chad Hagerty has been named one of 12 student-athletes honored on the Conference USA men?s soccer All-Academic team, the conference office announced.

Hagerty, who sports a 4.0 GPA as an exercise science major, is one of the 12 student-athletes honored on the team, which requires a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better, and the player must be a starter or key reserve.

A native of Louisville, Ky., Hagerty played in 15 games for the Wildcats, earning nine starting assignments. Hagerty, who attended St. Xavier high school, tallied one goal and one assist on the season. Hagerty?s lone goal came as the game-winner in UK?s non-conference win over state rival Western Kentucky.

Earlier this season, Hagerty earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, making him eligible for Academic All-America accolades.

The Kentucky soccer team has been committed to academic success since its inception in 1991. UK has received two National Soccer Coaches Association Academic All-America awards since 2000, as well as notching four NSCAA team academic awards.

The Wildcats season ended in the first round of the C-USA Tournament on Wednesday, dropping a 3-1 decision to Marshall in Birmingham.
