LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — T.J. Jordan scored 22 points to lead No. 23 Old Dominion past Kentucky, 71-62 on Friday night.
The Lady Monarchs (8-3) have now won five of their last six games while Kentucky (4-7) has lost three straight.
Jordan, Old Dominion’s all-time leading 3-point shooter, returned to action after missing the previous two games because of an injured left foot.
She had 10 points while playing 13 minutes in the first half but was involved in a scary incident with 8:26 remaining in the game. Jordan left the court after getting elbowed in the stomach, triggering an asthma attack. She returned a few minutes later.
Old Dominion forward Tiffany Green scored five of the team’s final seven points and finished with 12 points and nine rebounds.
The Wildcats pulled as close as 45-43 when Carly Morrow made two free throws with less than 12 minutes remaining before the Lady Monarchs pulled away. Old Dominion then went on a 12-4 run for its largest lead, 57-47, and never trailed again.
Sarah Elliott led Kentucky with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Amber Smith added 11 points.
The Lady Monarchs trailed by as many as six in the first half and didn’t take their first lead until Jordan made a 3-pointer with less than five minutes left in the half for a 25-24 advantage. The scored was tied at 30 at the break.
