LEXINGTON, Ky. ? Kentucky?s women?s tennis team beat the University of Louisville 4-3 Wednesday afternoon. UK remains undefeated against the Cardinals and extends their winning streak to 4-0.

Twentieth ranked doubles team, Christine Johnston and Carolina Escamilla, won their doubles match 8-1 against Louisville?s Lauren Imre and Lindsey Jones. The Cards beat out UK for the doubles point 8-2 and 8-4.

In singles play, Megan Broderick and Christine Johnston took their matches to three sets, winning 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 respectively. Alaina Trgovich won by tie breaker in the second set 6-1, 7-6(5) and No. 69 Sarah Woestmann remained undefeated in singles, winning 6-4, 6-2. In the remaining matches Whitney Spencer retired during the first set and Louisville?s Natalia Baez defeated UK?s Carolina Escamilla 6-3, 7-5.

?We played a really intense Louisville team. They were extremely disciplined and I feel they are going to continue to improve. It was a good win for Kentucky because it was the first time we came back from losing the doubles point and were able to turn it around during the singles competitions. I hope we can learn from this experience,? said Head Coach Carlos Drada.

The Kentucky Wildcats will travel to Bloomington, Indiana to face the Hoosiers (3-1) on Saturday, Feb. 2. The match is set to start at 10 am (ET).
