LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The University of Kentucky gymnastics team (1-2, 1-1) will travel to Baton Rouge, La., for their third conference meet on Friday at 8 p.m. EST. UK looks to bounce back from last week?s loss to Alabama after starting the season out with an opening conference win over Auburn.
In the previous week, the Wildcats were able to obtain a new season team high score, 193.525. Junior Heather Hite won her third consecutive title on floor. Fellow teammates Emilie Rymer and Emily Green earned team top honors. Rymer earned a 9.775 on vault and bars achieving a new personal best for the season on vault and tying her previous season high on bars. Green posted a 9.750 on the beam also beating out her previous season high of 9.725.
Senior Kristen O?Shields remains ranked in the top-25 on floor holding steady at No. 20. O?Shields tallied a 9.850 on floor for the title against Auburn. She holds an average score of 9.850 for the 2008 season. The Kentucky Wildcats are No. 24 on vault and No. 10 on floor.
LSU (2-1, 1-1) is currently ranked seventh after dropping two spots from last week rankings. The Tigers are coming off a 195.925-197.550 loss to top ranked Georgia.
The meet is slated for Feb. 1 at 8 p.m. (ET) in the Maravich Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
