LEXINGTON, Ky. — After opening practice on Feb. 1, the No. 20 Kentucky baseball team has settled into a preseason practice routine. On Friday, the Wildcats held an intrasquad scrimmage at Cliff Hagan Stadium, taking advantage of a beautiful day.
Starting pitchers each side were weekend starters Scott Green and Greg Dombrowski, with both right-handers hurling five innings. UK junior preseason All-American Collin Cowgill tallied two hits early in the game, driving in the first run of the scrimmage in the fourth inning.
Kentucky opens its season on Feb. 22 in Mobile, Ala., at the annual Coca-Cola Classic, taking on Xavier in the season lidlifter. The Wildcats open its home season on Feb. 26 against Oakland, at Cliff Hagan Stadium. For ticket information, call the UK ticket office (859-257-1818).
