LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The No. 22 Kentucky women?s tennis team (9-2 overall, 0-0) will begin conference action this week. The Wildcats will visit No. 30 South Carolina (6-1, 0-0) on Friday Feb. 29, at 2 p.m. at their Maxcy Gregg Tennis Complex, and the No. 7 Gators (6-1, 0-0) in Gainesville on Sunday, March 2, at noon.

Kentucky is coming off two solid home wins against Kansas, 6-1, and then-No.30 South Florida, 6-1. UK has maintained a perfect season, 8-0, when playing at home.

Against Kansas, No. 79 Sarah Woestmann landed the fourth point for Kentucky against KU?s Magdalena Tokarczyk, 6-3, 7-6(6), sealing the win. Freshman Megan Broderick ranked No. 95 played at the No. 2 position, beating out Jayhawk Elizaveta Avdeeva, 6-3, 6-4. The Tampa, Fla. native holds a 10-1 record for the season and was previously named SEC Freshman of the Week. The match against South Florida was secured by freshman Alaina Trgovich when she nailed the fourth point for the Wildcats at the No. 4 position against USF?s Iciri Rai, 6-2, 7-5.

This weekend the Wildcats carry the advantage against the Gamecocks with an all-time record of 15-10. Most recently, South Carolina suffered its first defeat of the season to then-No. 18 Clemson, 7-0, a team UK has previously beaten this season.

Sunday?s match against Florida will be a test for Kentucky. The Wildcats have only beaten the Gators once since the beginning of the series in 1983. The Gators are coming off a 5-2, road win against Texas and so far this season Florida has captured all of the doubles points.

Kentucky has been able to turn around two of four matches in which they lost the doubles points, and are undefeated when they have won doubles.
