PALO ALTO, Calif.; AUBURN, Ala.; AUSTIN, Texas and CINCINNATI ? For the second time in two days another University of Kentucky track and field record has been broken. At the University of Cincinnati?s Oliver Nikoloff Invitational, junior Maggie Tincher set a new school record in the women?s pole vault.

Tincher?s second-place height of 12-1.50 eclipsed the record set by teammate Mary Chris Durham in 2006. Durham also surpassed her own record in the event finishing just behind Tincher in the standings placing third.

Two other athletes entered the UK record books in the Queen City. Freshman David Banks finished first overall in the men?s triple jump hitting the dirt at 48-4, the seventh-best mark in school history. Banks also earned the tenth-best mark at UK in the men?s long jump at 21-7.25. Classmate Ke?Undra Bishop made the UK record books in the women?s triple jump with a distance of 37-10.5, good for seventh place all-time.

At Auburn?s Tiger Track Classic, several more field athletes earned NCAA regional-qualifying marks and made top-10 school marks.

Junior Chase Madison tied for first in the men?s discus measuring at 180-4, the sixth-best mark in school history. On the women?s side, classmate Emilee Strot finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 157-9 earning the ninth-best mark all-time at Kentucky. Both athletes earned regional-qualifying marks for their performances.

Strot compiled another regional mark in the women?s shot put. Her throw of 47-8 is sixth-best in the UK annals. Two other women made the UK record books in the hammer throw. Sophomore Kristin Smith placed third with a measurement of 173-7, good for eighth-best mark at UK. Classmate Heather Smith finished 12th with a distance of 142-11 good for 10th in the school record books.

In the Lone Star state, UK?s relay teams made some impressive marks at the Texas Relays. The men?s 4x100m relay team of sophomore Kwasi Obeng and juniors Jose Acevedo, Brandon Austin and Gordon McKenzie finished fourth in a regional-qualifying time of 39.69 ? the first mark under 40 seconds in almost a decade.

The women?s 4x400m relay squad of freshmen Jazmyn Shorter and Danielle Sampley along with junior Ashley Trimble and sophomore Jenna Martin also earned a regional mark after clocking in at 3:40.63 in eighth place.

The men?s 4x200m relay team of Obeng, Acevedo, Austin and senior Nathan Browning finished third overall with a time of 1:23.55.

Out west in Palo Alto, Calif., the UK distance runners wrapped up the Stanford Invitational. Junior Jessica Ortman finished tenth overall in the women?s 1500 meter run in a time of 4:26.20 while senior Lavera Morris finished close behind in 15th in 4:27.42.

The Wildcats head to Knoxville, Tenn., next Friday and Saturday to compete in the Sea Ray Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee.
