LOUDON, Tenn. ? Sophomore Erica Still led all Kentucky women?s golfers with a 78 in the opening round of the 2008 SEC Championships hosted by the University of Tennessee, Friday.

Kentucky fired a team score of 326 to open play and after 18 holes of play the Wildcats sit in 12th place in the standings. Still is tied for 26th to lead the UK individuals after firing a six-over-par in round one.

Arkansas and Florida lead the way on the team leaderboard in a dead heat for first place after carding scores of 297. The tournament is being held on the Tennessee National Golf Course designed by PGA legend Greg Norman which opened in 2006. The Championships are being played in Tennessee for just the second time, and first since 1996.

Senior Beth Felts brought a seven-over-par 79 into the clubhouse and is in a tie for 35th in her final collegiate golf tournament. Junior Mallory Blackwelder fired a 12-over-par to open play and is tied for 50th overall on the individual leaderboard. Freshman Louise Ljungstedt?s 13-over-par and sophomore Kristin Vincent?s 17-over rounded out the scoring for Kentucky. Ljungstedt and Vincent are tied for 53rd and 59th, respectively, in their first career SEC Championships.
