BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ? Kentucky freshman gymnast Phylicia Reshard (West Chester, Ohio) was named to the 2008 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll the league office announced this week.
Kentucky had 52 student-athletes named to the freshman honor roll, the fourth most in the league.
In order to be named to the honor roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship or a letter winner; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
The 2008 SEC Freshmen Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2007-08 academic calendar.
Reshard competed in all 15 meets during the 2008 season. Performing primarily on vault, she notched a career high 9.775 on vault three times, last at the NCAACentral Regional meet. Reshard also competed on bars in the first nine meets of the season with a career high 9.75 earned at Arkansas.
