Kentucky, Morehead State Square Off in Salute to Veterans Game
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program will play host to Morehead State on Friday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. ET inside Memorial Coliseum, which will mark the second of five in-state matchups this season. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network+ and 98.5 FM in the Lexington area, with Darren Headrick on the call.
It is the program’s annual Salute to Veterans game, featuring programming, special guests and announcements honoring past, present and future service members of the United States Armed Forces.
Doors to Memorial Coliseum will open one hour prior to the tip time. Bags must adhere to the UK Athletics Clear Bag policy, and bags and items will be searched. To avoid additional touch points, fans are strongly encouraged to not bring unnecessary bags to Memorial Coliseum. More on UK Athletics’ Clear Bag policy can be found online here.
Parking for games is available starting three hours prior to tipoff in a majority of surface lots surrounding Memorial Coliseum, including the High Street Lot, East Maxwell Lot, Joe Craft Center Lot, College View Lot, Alumni Center Lot and Career Center Lot. The Cornerstone Garage and Parking Structure No. 2 will open two hours prior to tip. The Gatton Student Center Lot is pay-to-park while all other parking options are free. The JCC Lot is primarily used for limited mobility/handicap parking. No shuttles are being offered at this point in the season.

Kentucky is coming off a season-opening triumph over Radford, 82-78, last Monday inside Memorial Coliseum. The Wildcats had two scorers in double digits, including sophomore guard Jada Walker. She scored 19 points on 8-of-11 from the field, marking just the second time she has led the Cats in scoring through 32 career games. In addition to her scoring contribution, the former Southeastern Conference All-Freshman selection added four rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Robyn Benton, a graduate student, had 17 points and four steals against Radford, which marked the 40th game of her career scoring in double digits.
Five Wildcats made their debut in Kentucky blue, including transfers Adebola Adeyeye, Ajae Petty, Eniya Russell, Maddie Scherr and freshman Amiya Jenkins. Both Scherr and Jenkins are Kentucky natives and former Miss Kentucky Basketball honorees.
In the victory last Monday, Kentucky had an impressive 56 points in the paint, while scoring an uncharacteristic three 3-pointers. The Wildcats forced the Highlanders to commit 17 turnovers, scoring 18 points off those miscues, while the Cats committed just 10 turnovers themselves.
Kentucky and Morehead State have not met since 2019, when the Wildcats defeated the Eagles, 79-54, at home, marking UK’s 15th straight win over MSU. Then-No. 13 Kentucky improved to a 5-0 overall record after the win, in a game that was led in scoring by Rhyne Howard’s 24 points.
The Eagles (0-1) are coming off their lone loss of the season to the South Florida Bulls, 87-40, on the road. MSU featured balanced scoring, while Veronica Charles led the team with nine points. Meanwhile, the Eagles scored 23 points in the fourth quarter of the game, their most against a Power Five school since the NCAA adopted quarters in 2015.
