Lexington, KY – The University of Kentucky Wildcat Marching Band will be a featured performing group at the 37th Ryder Cup held at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville. The Wildcat Marching Band will be performing for the Opening Ceremonies on Thursday, September 18 for 40,000 live spectators and an estimated 500 million TV viewers around the world, and will perform music composed for the Ryder Cup as well as national anthems from participating countries. Carl Collins, Assistant Director of Bands, said, “This is really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our students. The Ryder Cup is a major event for the United States and the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and the Wildcat Marching Band is honored to represent the University of Kentucky on this international stage. We’re looking forward to cheering on UK alum J.B. Holmes and the rest of the US Team, and participating in the spectacular opening ceremony event!”
