Kentucky men’s golfer senior Andy Winings set a new course record after shooting a 10-under-par, 61, on the Wildcat Course at the University Club in preparation for Kentucky’s upcoming tournament in The Prestige at PGA West next Monday and Tuesday.

This marks the second time this season Winings has set a course record after firing an eight-under-par at Kene Run Golf Club in early September.

Finishing in the top-15 in both tournaments so far in the 2008-09 season Winings has four rounds, out of six, at or under par. He finished tied for 14th in the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate and tied for second in the Wolf Run Intercollegiate, co-hosted by the University of Kentucky.

Winings led the Wildcats last season with a 72.46 stroke average after competing in every tournament for Kentucky. He also had four top-10 finishes and set a new career record for his lowest round firing a 67 in the Inverness Intercollegiate last fall. To add to his success on the course last year, he drilled a hole-in-one during the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational.

The Wildcats return to action this Oct. 13-14 when they travel to California for the Prestige at PGA West. Follow all the men’s golf team action on ukathletics.com.
