KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team carded a 301, claiming 12th place, in the second round of the Mercedes-Benz Championship, on Saturday at the Fox Den Country Club.

“The team played a solid front nine today, but made some mistakes coming down the stretch to finish up at 301,” head coach Myra Blackwelder said. “They are continuing to work on their putting.”

Kentucky once again scored lower than their last round two appearance at the Mercedes-Benz Championship in 2005, shaving off an impressive ten strokes.

The Wildcats finished ahead of three top-30 teams including No. 12 Denver. They stand a mere three strokes out of top-10 placement and are neck-and-neck with No. 19 Texas A&M being separated by only one stroke.

Juniors Erica Still and Kristin Vincent led the team today carding a 74. Still currently stands only two-over-par and is tied for 19th. Vincent, at only six-over-par, is tied for 41st place. Freshman Ashlee Rose continued her solid showing as she tied for 38th with a five-over-par. Rounding out the fourth Wildcat, who finished in the top-50 today, is senior Mallory Blackwelder who is eight-over-par and tied for 48th.

The final round will begin Sunday at 9 a.m. ET. Live scoring is available on www.utladyvols.com or www.golfstat.com.
