Lexington, Ky. – The UK women’s soccer team (3-11-2, 1-6-1 SEC) looks to end its current six-game losing streak Thursday when they host the Mississippi State Bulldogs (5-12-0, 0-8-0) at the UK Soccer Complex.

The Wildcats have been close in their last six matches, but haven’t been able to get over the hump as the six-game slide is tied for the longest such streak in school history. The match is also important for qualification purposes in this year’s SEC Tournament. With the top eight teams qualifying, UK currently sits in 11th with four points with three matches remaining. Alabama, the current eighth place team, has 12 points. Kentucky must win its final three matches and get some help along the way in order to qualify for its SEC record 15th straight postseason tournament.

The Bulldogs enter the match mired in their own eight-game losing streak and are currently looking for their first win in conference play.

The Wildcats are led offensively by sophomore Laura Novikoff who has posted a team best 13 points on six goals, a team high, and an assist.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Thursday and fans can follow all the action at www.ukathletics.com. It will be UK Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night with free admission being given to UK Faculty and Staff members and up to three additional family members. The first 50 fans will also receive a free hot dog.
