LEXINGTON, Ky. – Cornerback Trevard Lindley, defensive end Jeremy Jarmon, defensive tackle Myron Pryor, linebacker Braxton Kelley, offensive tackle Garry Williams, linebacker Micah Johnson and kick returner Derrick Locke have received mid-season honors from CollegeFootballNews.com and Phil Steele’s College Football.
Lindley was named first-team mid-season All-America by CFN and third-team All-America by Steele. Lindley has three interceptions and eight pass breakups so far this season. He leads the Southeastern Conference and ranks among the national leaders in total passes defended. Defensive tackle Myron Pryor, whose 20 tackles include 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 quarterback sacks, was picked as honorable-mention All-America by CFN.
Steele also chose a mid-season All-SEC team, featuring Lindley and Jarmon on the first team, Williams, Pryor and Kelley on the second team, and Johnson and Locke on the third team.
Alabama’s Nick Saban is CFN’s mid-season SEC Coach of the Year, with UK’s Rich Brooks also mentioned in the analysis.
“Oh sure, Vanderbilt’s Bobby Johnson appears to be the obvious choice here, and Kentucky’s Rich Brooks, after all the players he lost, probably deserves it, but (Saban is selected) for taking Alabama from good to national title-good about a year ahead of pace,” wrote Pete Fiutak of CFN.
