First-half notes

  • Kentucky had its first lineup change of the season when freshman Darius Miller made his first collegiate start in place of Ramon Harris. Prior to tonight, Harris had started the previous 27 games dating back to last season.
  • Patrick Patterson has won the opening tip in all four games this season.
  • The Wildcats scored the first seven points of the game and later added a 13-0 run to go ahead 31-7.
  • UK extended the lead to 27 points by intermission, 51-24.
  • Patterson scored 22 in the first half, eclipsing his previous career best of 17 points scored in one half, which was the second half vs. Liberty last year.
  • UK extended its streak of 678 consecutive games making a three-pointer.

Second-half notes

  • Kentucky continued to pull away in the second half, leading by as many as 41 points at 81-40. It is Kentucky ‘s largest lead of the season.

Team notes

  • Kentucky put its height advantage to good use tonight and also did a good job driving to the basket. The Wildcats dominated points in the paint 54-16
  • UK limited Longwood to 30.3 percent from the field, the second consecutive opponent that has shot no better than 31 percent against the Wildcats.

Individual game notes

  • Patrick Patterson totaled a career-high 28 points and 12 rebounds.
  • It is his second double-double of the season (also North Carolina ) and eighth of his career.
  • Patterson actually achieved his double-double by halftime with 22 and 10 in the opening period.
  • Patterson also had career highs in assists (six) and blocked shots (four).
  • Jodie Meeks was next for the Cats in scoring with 17 points.
  • Josh Harrelson had his first UK game in double figures with 12 points while adding seven rebounds.
  • Perry Stevenson notched a career-best four assists.
