Kentucky Head Coach Matthew Mitchell

“I am absolutely thrilled to get this win tonight because of the intensity that Alabama plays with defensively. They killed us on offensive boards tonight and I was disappointed with that, but you have to give them credit because they really were all over the boards. I was concerned coming on the road to a place like this. I don’t think we played particularly well in stretches, so to be able to come away with a win on a night like tonight is really terrific and something I am so proud of.”

“It was a tremendous performance because one thing that’s hard to do is to get on the road, not play great and find a way to battle through and win. We expected some people to come off the bench and give us some production and it just didn’t happen tonight. It was just a tremendous victory for us.”

“Alabama is so athletic; and when they get in there close and miss, and you’re able to clean it up is just huge. It was a six-point game and we were able to stretch it to eight and then to 10. When it gets down to a free-throw shooting deal, we’ve been closing the game out. Those defensive rebounds are critical to our success.”

“The main thing is the “W” and I tell the players they can’t take these wins away from us. We’re real, real happy to be leaving Tuscaloosa with a victory tonight.”
