LEXINGTON, Ky. — Due to heavy rains in the Lexington area making the field conditions treacherous, the series-opener with No. 28 South Carolina and Kentucky, scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET at Cliff Hagan Stadium, has been postponed. The two teams will square off in a nine-inning twin bill Saturday, slated to begin at noon ET.

Kentucky (15-7, 3-3 Southeastern Conference) and South Carolina were slated to square off in the series opener at 6:30 p.m., but heavy rains throughout the afternoon made the field conditions unplayable. After delaying a decision until 7 p.m., officials and coaches determined the best option would be a double-header Saturday.

South Carolina (16-6, 2-4 SEC) will send ace sophomore righty Sam Dyson (3-1, 2.73 ERA) to the mound to face off with UK southpaw James Paxton (4-0, 3.30 ERA) in the first game. In game two, UK senior Chris Rusin (4-1, 2.97 ERA) will get the starting nod with South Carolina yet to determine a starter.
