When he took the pitch Friday night at the UK Soccer Complex for the Kentucky men’s soccer season opener against IUPUI, freshman forward Cameron Wilder could not stop smiling.

Registering a start in his first collegiate game, the native of Kennesaw, Ga., stood stoic for the national anthem, alongside his Kentucky teammates at midfield. Just a few seconds later, Wilder was standing in front of the stands, pumping up the crowd of 1,412 fans and boasting a contagious smile that is becoming his trademark.
