BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Kentucky men’s tennis team begins first round competition at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships inside Indiana University’s Indoor Tennis Center in Bloomington, Ind., Friday.

The UK doubles team of senior Alex Lambropoulos and junior Alberto Gonzalez will be the first Wildcats on the court when they battle the Ball State freshman pairing of Austin Sansone and Alex Doherty at 1:00 p.m. ET. Should the Cats win, they would face the tourney’s second-seeded team of Austen Childs and Simon Childs of Louisville in a second round match Saturday morning.

The No. 24 ranked doubles team of junior Brad Cox and sophomore Eric Quigley is seeded fifth in the draw. As a result, the duo drew a bye in the first round. The Wildcats will face either Ball State’s Shaun Bussert and Jon Wegener or Eastern Kentucky’s Niklas Schroeder and Philip Janz in a Saturday morning second round contest.

All four Wildcats will also be in action in main draw singles play this weekend, along with sophomore Chris Leeper. First round singles play begins Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. ET. As of press time, the singles main draw had yet to be released. However, No. 70 Quigley should earn a seed in the tourney and could receive a first round bye Friday.

All second round matches are scheduled for Saturday morning while round of 16 contests will follow later in the evening for both draws.
