Team Records and Series Notes

  • Kentucky is 3-0 all-time against Bellarmine (Louisville, Ky.) in regular season games. The Wildcats also defeated the Knights last season in exhibition play, 72-69.
  • Kentucky is in its 36th season of women’s basketball. Head Coach Matthew Mitchell enters his third season with the Wildcats.
  • This is the only exhibition game of the season.
  • UK is now 4-1 in exhibition games under Coach Mitchell.
  • UK Hoops begins regular season play Friday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. ET against first-time opponent Boston. The game is the first women’s collegiate basketball in the nation for the 2009-10 season.

  • Starting line-up: Victoria Dunlap, Amber Smith, A’dia Mathies, Amani Franklin, Carly Morrow
  • Key run: Kentucky went on a 20-0 run in the first half sparked by a bucket by Victoria Dunlap, holding Bellarmine scoreless for over eight minutes.
  • UK scored 107 points in the game. The last time the Wildcats hit for 100 or more points was Dec. 22, 2005 vs. Tennessee State. UK defeated TSU, 105-45.
  • All 10 eligible players saw action and grabbed at least one rebound. Sophomore guard Crystal Riley (transfer from LSU) will not be eligible until after the 2009 fall semester.
  • Nine of the 10 players charted at least two points, one rebound and one steal.
  • Four players scored in double digits: Victoria Dunlap (22), A’dia Mathies (18), Rebecca Gray (18) and Amani Franklin (15).
  • The Wildcats forced 34 turnovers and scored 49 points off those miscues.

Individual Game Notes

  • Junior Victoria Dunlap led with 22 points (11-of-16) and added 13 rebounds. She also added three blocks and a game-high four steals.
  • Sophomore Rebecca Gray scored 18 points in her first game as a Wildcat.
  • Freshman A’dia Mathies also put up 18 points, four assists and two steals in her debut.
  • Senior Amani Franklin added 15 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double with nine.
  • Freshman Brittany Henderson came off the bench for nine points, 10 rebounds and a game-high four blocks.
  • Junior point guard Amber Smith dished out a game-high six assists.
