LEXINGTON, KY – The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team has announcedits 2010 class as announced by head coach Jon Lipsitz on Wednesday.

“For the past year, we as coaches have discussed the need to greatly increase team speed, strength and competitiveness,” said Lipsitz. “This class begins this dramatic shift towards a faster, more aggressive and more dynamic attacking style.  These thirteen players, along with two special transfers, will help push this program forward to deliver to the Commonwealth a program it deserves.”

The 2010 class includes:

Taylor Dearbaugh, a native of Centerville, Ohio, is a senior at Centerville High School. A member of the Cincinnati United Premier (CUP) Crew Juniors Gold 91, coached by Bob Muro and Brian Page, Dearbaugh was a member of the Ohio South ODP State Team and Regional Pool in 2004-06. She helped lead CUP to three-straight Ohio South State Cup championships. She’s received First team All-State honors and has also been named All-Area MVSCAA South Player of the Year. Named team captain, and later on team MVP, Dearbaugh earned NSCAA All-Region honors while helping to lead Centerville High to the state semi-finals her senior season.

Jenna Goobie, from Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, is currently a senior at Sackville High School. Goobie plays her club ball for Kenny Burton and Halifax County United. A member of the U17 Canadian National Team that won the bronze medal in the 2008 CONCACAF Championship, Goobie was also a member of the NS Canada Games team. She also helped guide her club team to the U16 Club National silver medal in 2008.

Carylynne Hudson, a native of Clarksville, Md., is attending River Hill High School. She plays her club ball with the F.C. Frederick U-18 coached by Mark Wolcott and was a three-year member of the Maryland ODP squad. Hudson helped lead River Hill to three consecutive state championships. The River Hill High School team captain her senior year, she was named First-Team All-County and was also on the Baltimore Sun’s Notable Player to Watch list. She also received the team MVP award for her senior season.

Kayla King, from Louisville, Ky., is a senior at DuPont Manual High School. She plays her club ball for Mockingbird Valley Soccer Club coached by Larry Raible. A member of the 2008 Kentucky ODP state team, King helped lead Mockingbird Valley to four consecutive state championships from 2006-09. She was named first team All-State while leading DuPont Manual to a section runner-up finish in her junior and senior seasons.

McKay Kirkland, a native of Charlotte, N.C., is attending Charlotte Latin School and playing her club soccer for Lee Horton and CSA Copa 91. During her prep career, Kirkland earned All-State honors in her junior season, tallying 21 goals and 13 assists, while helping lead her school to the NCISAA State championship. Her sophomore season, she was named NCSCA All-Region while leading Charlotte Latin to the first of two straight state championships. Kirkland, who was named her high school field hockey team captain, also received All-State honors in field hockey.

Danielle Krohn, from Craley, Pa., is a senior at Eastern York High School. A member of the Hershey Attack, coached by Mike McHugh, Krohn is a club teammate of fellow UK signee Caitlin Landis. She was a member of the Eastern PA ODP team from 2003 to 2008 and was a member of the Region I ODP team from 2005 to 2007. Krohn ranks 71 st nationally by TopDrawerSoccer.com. She helped lead the Attack to the 2009 State Cup championship and Disney Showcase championship as well as an appearance in the Las Vegas Showcase finals and Region I semifinals. At Eastern York HS, Krohn has been named Division III Player of the Year as well as being named YAIAA First Team All-County.

Kacie Kumar, a native of Centerville, Ohio, is in her senior year at Centerville High School. Playing her club ball for Doug Bracken and the Ohio Elite Soccer Academy U18 team, Kumar, and fellow UK signee Taylor Dearbaugh, helped lead the Cincinnati United Premier to back-to-back Ohio State Cup Championships in 2007 and 2008. A four-year varsity letterman, Kumar helped lead Centerville High to a 65-12-8 record, a third place finish in the 2009 state tournament and a national ranking of 21 st . She was a 2009 All-Area MVSCAA third team member. In 2008 she was named second team All-Conference, third team 2008 All-Miami Valley and second team All-GWOC.

Caitlin Landis, from Milton, Pa., is currently a senior at Milton Area High School. A member of the Hershey Attack coached by Mike McHugh, Landis is a club teammate of fellow UK signee Danielle Krohn. She helped lead the Attack to the 2009 State Cup championship and Disney Showcase championship as well as an appearance in the Las Vegas Showcase finals and Region I semifinals. A high school All-State performer her senior season, Landis was named Player of the Year tallying 40 goals and 17 assists. She is also an avid performer on the track where she was a district qualifier in the 100, 200 and 4×100 events. TopDrawerSoccer.com ranks Landis 11 th in the Pennsylvania region.

Allie Lonneman, from Cold Spring, Ky., is a senior at Newport Central Catholic High School. She played club for Mandy Green and the KSA U-18 Elite. A member of the Kentucky Olympic Development (ODP) State team from 2006-08, Lonneman helped lead KSA U-18 Elite to the Kentucky State Cup finals and her U-17 team a trip to the 2008 Regionals by winning the MRL. An All-State performer, her senior season, Lonneman was also named to the Kentucky Senior All-Star team. She helped lead Newport Catholic to the district championship her freshman, sophomore and senior years and the Kentucky All-A State Championship her freshman and sophomore seasons.

Christine Lutz, a native of Harrisburg, N.C., graduated from Hickory Ridge High School. Lutz, who enrolled at UK for the 2010 spring semester, played her club ball for Ben Parry and the Charlotte Soccer Club whom she helped lead to three club state championships. As a member of the Hickory Ridge High School team, she was named all-state her junior year while helping lea d the team to the Final Eight her junior and freshman years. Taylor Parker, from Fort Mill, S.C., is a senior at Fort Mill High School. She plays her club ball for Ben Parry and the Charlotte Soccer Club, along with fellow UK signee Christine Lutz, as well as with Richard Butler and the Charlotte Soccer Academy and fellow UK signee Ashley VanLandingham. Parker was the 91 Charlotte Soccer Academy Predator Team Captain while finishing the season as the fourth leading scorer in Region III Premier League East. A Region III ODP Pool selection in 2007, Parker is an accomplished prep player as well. A 2009 All-State selection, she was named the 2009 High School Region 3 4A Player of the Year, as well as the Rock Hill Herald Newspaper Area Player of the Year. Parker was also a 2009 SCSoccer.com Supper 22 selection.

Natalie Starr, of Anderson Township, Ohio, is a senior at Turpin High School. She plays her club ball for Doug Bracken and the Ohio Elite. A two-time team captain for the Elite, she helped lead the team to the 2009 Elite Clubs National League. In 2008 and 2009, the Elite qualified for Regionals via the MRL Wildcard. A two-time First Team All-City selection, Starr is also a three-time all-state academic performer. She was also named MVP, Player ofthe Year and nominated ninth in the city.

Ashley VanLandingham, a native of Asheville, N.C., is a senior at T.C. Roberson High School, and plays her club ball, and was named team captain, for Richard Butler and the Charlotte Soccer Academy Predators along with fellow UK signee Taylor Parker. She was also named team captain for the Charlotte Soccer Club Blue, coached by Ben Perry, and played with fellow UK signee Christine Lutz. VanLandingham helped lead the Predators to the NCYSA State Cup Final Four for three state years, claiming the championship in 2007. She also helped lead the Predators to the USYSA Regional Quarterfinals in 2008. A USYSA Region III Pool Player in 2008, VanLandingham attended USYSA Region III Camp. She was a 2009 ESPN Spring Girls High School All-American as well as being named All-State 2009. VanLandingham was also named a 2005 Region III Sub- Regional All-Star performer.

In addition to the 13 signees, transfers
Natalie Horner and Kelsey Hunyadi will be making their first appearance for the Wildcats thisfall.

Horner, a sophomore transfer from Michigan, received Big Ten All-Freshman honors as well the
U-M Athletic Academic Achievement Award . In her rookie season, she played in all 19 games, making 19 starts.

Hunyadi, a junior transfer from Louisville, has two years of eligibility remaining. As a freshman at UofL, Hunyadi received Third Team All-BIG EAST honors and was also named SoccerBuzz Freshman All-Region. Her sophomore season, Hunyadi s tarted all 19 matches for the Cardinals recording two goals, both game-winners, and two assists. She played 90-plus minutes in all 19 matches.

The Wildcats kickoff their spring season on Friday, April 2 nd at 8:30 p.m. ET when they host in-state rival Western Kentucky.
