LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky men’s tennis team climbed to sixth in national rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday. It marks the program’s highest ranking since the 2002 campaign.

Kentucky (11-4, 2-0 in the Southeastern Conference) moves up two positions from its eighth-place ranking from the Feb. 25 listings.

The Wildcats are coming off a 5-2 home victory against No. 15 Ole Miss on Sunday that ended the Rebels 23-match league win streak.

The win also signaled Kentucky’s sixth victory against a ranked opponent this season. The Wildcats have defeated Virginia (then-No. 2), Illinois (then-No. 13), Wake Forest (then-No. 16), Mississippi State (then-No. 40) and Michigan (then-No. 41).

The latest player rankings will not be released until March 16.

UK sophomores Eric Quigley (Pewee Valley, Ky.) and Alex Musialek (Dax, France) were ranked eighth and 29th, respectively, in the March 2 singles rankings. Quigley and junior Bread Cox (Duluth, Ga.) were listed at No. 15 among the nation’s top doubles tandems.

Kentucky plays its first SEC road matches of the season this weekend, traveling to No. 9 Georgia on Friday for at 1 p.m. ET match and No. 2 Tennessee on Sunday for a 1 p.m. contest.
