COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the third consecutive season junior Tyler Reed scored a top-16 finish in the 200-freestyle with his 14th place finish in the event Saturday night on the second day of competition at the 2010 NCAA Championships.

Reed earns his third All-America distinction in the event in his career with a time of 1:35.40. Reed posted a 1:34.65 time in qualifying during the preliminary heat.

Kentucky added additional points with a 15th place finish in the 800-freestyle relay. Reed began the race with a time of 1:37.05. Senior Kyle Greene took the second leg with a clip of 1:36.38. Senior Alex Forbes earned a time of 1:38.74 in the third leg, and senior Warren Grobbelaar anchored with a time of 1:38.15. UK combined for a clip of 6:30.32 as all four swimmers added additional All-America distinctions.

The Wildcats currently sit in 16th place overall with 41 points scored in the meet. UK trails North Carolina who has 47.5 points.

Grobbelaar finished 18th and just narrowly missed joining the field of 16 in the finals events in the 100-butterfly. The senior claimed a time of 46.88 in today’s race. Senior Elvis Burrows was 37th in the event with a time of 47.88.

Greene also just missed out on a top-16 finish when he finished in 25th in the 200-free with a time of 1:36.21.

Kentucky will wrap up action at the national meet Sunday. The Wildcats have five athletes among the field of participants in the 100-freestyle and UK will also take to the lanes in the 400-free relay.

Preliminary heats begin at Noon ET tomorrow morning with the finals set for a 7 p.m. ET start time. Live results and video is available through NCAA.com.
