ITA Kickoff Weekend Bracket

SKILLMAN, N.J. — For the second straight season, the University of Kentucky men’s tennis team has been picked to host the International Tennis Association Kickoff Weekend as part of the ITA National Indoor Championships on Jan. 28-31 at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.

The Wildcats were chosen as one of 15 host sites for the event after finishing No. 12 in the final ITA team rankings released last week. The No. 12 ranking is the best for the Wildcats since finishing eighth at the end of the 2002 season.

UK will be the No. 1 seed in the Lexington regional and will host No. 2 seed Wake Forest, No. 3 seed Wisconsin and No. 4 seed Boise State. The first round of the event will feature Kentucky against Boise State and Wake Forest against Wisconsin with the winners from each match meeting in the second round for a chance to advance to the ITA National Indoor Team Championships Round of 16 on Feb. 18-21 in Seattle, Wash.

Kentucky hosted the 2010 ITA Kickoff Weekend, posting victories over No. 41 Michigan and No. 16 Wake Forest to advance to its first Indoor or Outdoor National Championship Round of 16 since 2005.

Including Kentucky, 15 of the top 16 teams in the 2010 ITA final team rankings received a host bid for the kickoff weekend with the only exception being Baylor. The Wildcats are one of four Southeastern Conference teams to be chosen to play host for the event, joining Tennessee Florida and Georgia.

Official dates and times for the event will be released at a later time. Stay tuned to UKAthletics.com for more information on the UK men’s tennis team.
