BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Three Kentucky volleyball matches this season have been selected for live national broadcasts it was announced by the Southeastern Conference office, Wednesday.
Kentucky will appear on ESPNU once and have two matches broadcast by Fox Sports Net.
“We are excited to be on national TV several times this year,” Kentucky coach Craig Skinner said. “This will add to our athletes’ exposure both on a local and national level. The SEC continues to be a leader in exposure for our conference athletes.”
The Kentucky-Tennessee match slated for Wed., Sept. 29 in Knoxville, Tenn., will kick off the 2010 ESPNU SEC Volleyball schedule. Match time is set for a 7 p.m. ET start.
This marks the second consecutive season the Wildcats will be among the teams for the first televised match of the season by ESPNU. It is also the second consecutive year that ESPNU has picked up a matchup between the border state rivals. Last season’s match between the two schools held in Lexington concluded the ESPNU slate.
Kentucky will then be a part of wrapping up the 2010 Fox schedule for SEC Volleyball. UK will host Auburn Sun., Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. ET.
The following weekend Fox Sports will show the matchup between the Wildcats and the Crimson Tide of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The teams are set to meet on Sun., Nov. 7 for a 2 p.m. ET first serve.
This marks the second consecutive season the Wildcats have had three or more nationally televised matches.
More television dates are expected to be released in the coming weeks by the Big Blue Sports Network.
The SEC, in conjunction with ESPNU, FOX Sports Net (FSN), Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) and Cox Sports Television (CST), will combine to broadcast 17 live SEC volleyball matches this season.
