LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a three-game road stretch where the UK women’s soccer team faced three straight top-20 opponents, the Kentucky women’s soccer team returns to the familiar confines of the UK Soccer Complex to host the Marshall Thundering Herd on Sunday at 5 p.m.

Kentucky (3-2-0) posted a 1-2 mark in the three road matches with a win over No. 15 Virginia Tech and losses to No. 14 Wake Forest and No. 18 Louisville.

In their most recent outing, the Cats posted a season high 21 shots, but were unable to capitalize on any of them. UK goalie Sydney Hiance tied her career high in saves at 10, while Natalie Horner and Caitlin Landis both attempted five shots, season highs for both.

The UK offense has come on hard times in their last two matches. After scoring eight goals in their first three matches, three shy of last season’s total of 11, Kentucky has failed to find the back of the net.

This is the fifth meeting between the Wildcats and the Thundering Herd. Kentucky is 4-0-0 all-time against Marshall with three of the matches being played in Lexington. The two teams haven’t met since the 2007 season, a match won by the Cats 2-1 in overtime in Huntington.

UK has outscored Marshall 10-3 including a 3-0 shutout in the series’ inaugural meeting in 1999.

Jon Lipsitz has faced the Thundering Herd once before and came away with a victory.

Sunday’s match against Marshall marks the first of a five-game home stretch the longest such stretch this year for UK. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Live stats will be available at UKathletics.com.
