LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s tennis team competed in the qualifying singles and qualifying doubles draw of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships Tuesday in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

Senior Megan Broderick, a Tampa, Fla., native, went up against Lucia Batta of UNLV, one of eight girls to advance out of the prequalifying draw. Batta topped Broderick 6-3, 6-4.

Sophomore Jessica Stiles paired with freshman Marni Venter in the qualifying doubles draw. The Kentucky duo fell to Carolyn McVeigh and Stacey Tan of Stanford 8-4.

Broderick will also be competing in the main draw doubles pool with freshman Khristina Blajkevitch. Broderick and Blajkevitch have already had success this season after going 2-1 in the Roberta Alison Fall Classic last week.

The championships, being held at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., for the 26th consecutive year, mark the third tournament of the fall season for the Cats. It will run until Oct. 10. The main draw doubles pool will begin Oct. 7.
