LEXINGTON, Ky. – Three members of the University of Kentucky men’s tennis team, including junior Matt Davis and freshmen Maks Gold and Grant Roberts, will play in the Louisville Winter Invitational this weekend at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The tournament, which begins at 9 a.m. ET Friday, will feature two divisions in both singles and doubles with main draw and consolation play. Kentucky will be joined at the tournament by Belmont, Butler, Chicago State, Drake, Indiana-Southeast, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis and Middle Tennessee.

Davis and Gold are coming off an appearance in last week’s USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Indoor Championships. Davis, a native of Gainesville, Fla., participated in singles qualifying at the event, winning his first-round match over Riyad Bennoui of Wright State before losing to Oliver Strecker of Lipscomb to fall short of qualifying for the main draw.

Gold was able to qualify for the main draw, getting a bye to the second round of singles qualifying where he took down Taylor Tunis of IUPUI to receive a qualifying spot in the singles main draw. The native of Louisville, Ky., then fell in the first round of the main draw to No. 97 Sander Gille of East Tennessee State in a three-set thriller 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Roberts, a native of Lexington, Ky., has played in one tournament so far this spring for Kentucky, going 1-2 in the UNLV Invitational.
