LEXINGTON, KY – UK freshman Terrence Jones was named the SEC Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.
Jones, a 6-8 forward from Portland, Ore., averaged 26.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in wins over Auburn and LSU. Jones came off the bench and broke the UK freshman single-game scoring record with 35 points against Auburn. He shot 11-of-17 from the field, including a career-best four 3-pointers. Jones also pulled down eight rebounds in the win. In the win over LSU, he came off the bench to score 17 points while pulling down seven rebounds. Jones has scored in double-figures in 10 straight games.
The awards is Jones’ third this season and the eighth for Kentucky.
Kentucky returns to action Tuesday night, traveling to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. ET tip and can be seen live on ESPN.
