LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) – Brittany Henderson made a layup with 1.1 seconds left to give No. 15 Kentucky a 49-47 win over LSU.
The sophomore had only four points but was able to bank in an open look. LSU, which had no timeouts, was unable to get off a desperation shot from three-quarters of the court before time expired.
The Lady Tigers (17-10, 7-6 SEC) had the ball in a tie game with 30 seconds left, but as the shot clock was winding down, Adrienne Webb was called for traveling. With 21.0 seconds left, Kentucky’s A’dia Mathies slowly dribbled upcourt and held the ball until passing inside to Henderson for the game-winner.
Mathies led Kentucky (19-6, 8-4) with 16 points but didn’t score in the game’s last six minutes, when she had to play cautiously with four fouls.
LaSondra Barrett had 11 points for LSU.
