LEXINGTON, Ky. – UK freshman forward Caitlin Landis was named the 2011 Female Rookie of the Year at the Catspys on Monday Night.

Landis, a two-time SEC weekly award winner in 2010, was selected to the Freshman All-SEC squad in her inaugural season. She was second on the team in goals scored (7) and third in points (15). She attempted 58 shots, second most among freshmen in program history.

“It’s an honor; I put in a lot of hard work, but it was certainly worth it,” Landis said.

Landis was the first women’s soccer player to capture the Female Rookie of the Year award.

A spin-off of the popular ESPY Awards held each year by ESPN, the Catspys feature 26 individual and team honors, chosen from UK’s 22 varsity sports. This event is dedicated to celebrating the 492 student-athletes that represent UK. Videos of the nominees in each category are shown. UK student-athletes and head coaches serve as presenters.
