Team Records and Series Notes

•    Kentucky improves their record to 21-25 overall and 5-17 in the SEC in 2011, while Vanderbilt falls to 38-6 on the season and 17-5 in conference play.
•    Kentucky now has an all-time record of 140-129-5 vs. Vanderbilt. The Wildcats are 71-47-1 against the Commodores in games played in Lexington.
•    The Cats have now won four of their last five home games.
•    UK head coach Gary Henderson is now 80-76 in his coaching career.
•    The Wildcats are now 1660-1428-25 in NCAA play all-time.

Team Game Notes

•    The last time Kentucky played the No. 1 ranked team was April 15, 2007.  The Cats beat Vanderbilt 8-6 that day at home.
•    UK’s four hits on Friday were the fewest by the Cats in a victory this season.
•    Kentucky picked up its second win of the season when being out-hit (2-20).
•    Vanderbilt did not have a runner reach second base until the seventh inning.
•    The Cats are now 4-6 against ranked opponents in 2011.
•    UK now has a 15-6 record when scoring first in 2011.
•    UK is now 5-5 in conference games played at home.
•    The Wildcats are now 18-7 at Cliff Hagan Stadium in 2011.  
•    Kentucky is now 3-8 this season when playing on Friday.
•    Taylor Black, Chad Wright, and Braden Kapteyn continued to be the only Wildcats to start all 46 games this season for UK.

Individual Game Notes

•    Alex Meyer pitched his fourth complete game and second complete game shutout of the season while improving his record to 5-5 in 2011.
o    Meyer struck out five batters and is now three strikeouts away from tying for fifth place on UK’s all-time strikeout list.
o    Meyer struck out the first three batters of the game.
o    Entering the game, opponents had hit .253 against Meyer with runners in scoring position. On Friday night Vanderbilt was 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
•    Thomas McCarthy hit his fifth home run of the season in the second inning.
o    McCarthy had a sac-bunt in the seventh that led to UK’s second run of the game.
o    Finished the night 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI.
•    Chad Wright extended his hitting streak to eight straight games with his 12th double of the season in the third inning.
o    Has reached base safely in 23 straight games.
•    Braden Kapteyn scored his team-best 39th run of the season.
o    Finished the night 1-for-3.
•    Neiko Johnson recorded his fourth outfield assist of the season.
•    Michael Williams threw out his 15th base runner of the season.
•    Taylor Black started his 83rd straight game at shortstop which is a team-high for most consecutive games started at one position.
