First Round Individual Results
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team started their season on a good note. After the first round of the Texas A&M “Mo”Morial, the Cats are tied for second while, individually, junior Ashleigh Albrecht is tied for first overall.
As a team, the Cats shot a 299 leaving them tied for second with Texas and only 3 strokes behind the leader, Auburn.
Head coach, Golda Johansson Borst was pleased with how her team performed in their first round of the season on the challenging course in Bryan, Texas.
“I am very proud of my team for how they handled themselves today and for how they played. They were confident and they placed the ball well,” said Borst. “This golf course requires great golf course management and this is something that we have worked on a lot.”
Individually, Albrecht shot a 2-under 70 that has her tied for first place. Senior Ashlee Rose also finished the first round in the top 10 with a 2-over 74.
Also for the Cats, juniors Betsie Johnson and Megan Moir finished the first round in the top 20. Johnson is tied for 16th place with a 5-over 77 while Moir is tied for 20th with a 6-over par 78.
The second round will begin Monday, Sept. 12th with Heather Lott as the first Wildcat teeing off at 9:03 a.m. Moir will then tee-off at 9:12 a.m. with Johnson following shortly after at 9:21 a.m. Rose will tee-off at 9:30 a.m. and Albrecht will be the last Cat to begin at 9:39 a.m. All times are Eastern.
