LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team will travel to Dayton, Ohio for the final non-conference tilt of the 2011 season to take on the 24th ranked Dayton Flyers on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET.
UK is off to its best start since 2001, posting an undefeated 7-0-0 record so far in 2011. Kentucky looks to go undefeated in the non-conference portion of the schedule for the first time in program history.
The Cats’ senior captain Kelsey Hunyadi is off to one of the best starts in program history. Hunyadi has tallied 13 points in the first seven games of the season, comprising of four goals and a league-high five assists.
UK is the final team remaining in the Southeastern Conference without a loss in the 2011 season. The Cats lead the SEC in shots (121), as well as shots per game (17.29).
Molly Huber is off to a flying start for Kentucky as well. The true freshman has notched six points in the early going of the 2011 season, including two goals, one of which was the game-winning goal last weekend in the championship game of the Tropical Smoothie Invitational.
Kentucky all-time vs. Dayton is 3-1-1 with an impressive 8-4-2 record against A-10 teams.
Jon Lipsitz, Kentucky head coach, used to coach at Charlotte, so he is very experienced in the Atlantic 10, netting an all-time record of 36-6-1 vs. Atlantic 10 opponents, including an undefeated 5-0 record against the Flyers.
Dayton, the No. 24 team in the NSCAA Coaches Poll, is fresh off a defeat of No. 25 Ohio State 1-0 last weekend. The Flyers are coached by Mike Tucker who is 242-84-23 all time as the Dayton head coach.
